Check this before you order
This is a European eShop key. It redeems only on a Nintendo account whose country is set to a supported European country, and Nintendo rejects it on any other. Nintendo does not operate an eShop in most African countries, so the country on your account is the thing to verify, not the console.
Look in your Nintendo account settings, under country or region. If it is not a supported European country, this key will not work for you. Message us on WhatsApp before ordering and we will tell you where you stand rather than let you find out at the redemption screen.
Any eShop balance on an account does not travel with it if the country changes. That is Nintendo’s rule, not ours.
What the Expansion Pack adds
You get everything in the base membership, which is online play, Save Data Cloud, the NES, Super NES and Game Boy libraries, the smartphone app and member offers. On top of that:
- The Nintendo 64 library, with online play on the titles that support it
- The Game Boy Advance library
- The Sega Genesis library
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons Happy Home Paradise
- Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion
The thing to understand about the add-ons
Those three add-ons need the game they belong to, and Nintendo sells those separately. The Booster Course Pass is no use without Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on your console, and the same goes for the other two.
They also work only while the membership is running. Buy the Booster Course Pass outright and the courses are yours for good. Reach them through the Expansion Pack and they stop when the twelve months end. That is a genuine difference and it is not written on most listings.
So the Expansion Pack is worth the extra money if you want the N64, Game Boy Advance and Genesis libraries, or if you own two or three of those games and want their add-ons at once. If you own none of them and the retro libraries do not interest you, the base membership does the same job for online play at less than half the price.
How an order runs
- Pay with your mobile wallet. The price shows in your local currency.
- We email the eShop key, within five minutes and at most two hours.
- Open the eShop on your console, choose Enter Code, and type the key.
No card is needed at any point and nothing renews by itself. If you already have a base membership running, redeeming this upgrades you for the remaining time rather than wasting it, and Nintendo adjusts the duration accordingly.
Paying without a credit card
The Nintendo eShop wants a card registered to the account’s country, which is the part that fails for most of our customers. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet already on your phone, and the key arrives by email.
We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there.
Common questions
Will this key work on my account?
Only if your Nintendo account’s country is set to a supported European country. Check that first, because the restriction is on the account and not on the console.
Do I keep the Mario Kart courses after the year ends?
No. Access to the Booster Course Pass, Happy Home Paradise and Octo Expansion lasts only while the membership is active. Buying each add-on outright is the way to keep it permanently.
Do I need to own Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to use the Booster Course Pass?
Yes. The add-ons require their base games, which Nintendo sells separately. The membership unlocks the extra content and not the game.
Which classic libraries does the Expansion Pack add?
Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis, on top of the NES, Super NES and Game Boy libraries that come with the base membership.
Is it worth the extra over the base membership?
If you want the N64, Game Boy Advance or Genesis games, yes. If you only want to play online with friends, no, and the base membership costs less than half.
Does the key expire?
No. It sits unused for as long as you like. The twelve months start counting from the day you redeem it.
Can I play online with people outside Europe?
Yes. The membership’s region decides where the key redeems, not who you can play against.
Does it renew automatically?
No. A redeemed key adds twelve months and then stops. There is no card on file and nothing to cancel.
Can my family use it?
No. This is the Individual membership and it covers one Nintendo account. The Family version of the Expansion Pack covers up to eight, and we do not list it at the moment, so ask us.
What if I already have the base membership?
Redeeming this upgrades you rather than wasting the time you have left. Nintendo works out the remaining duration.
How do I pay without a bank card?
Pick your country and mobile wallet at checkout, then approve the payment on your phone.
