Secure Payment
Read this first: it is an account, not a code
You receive the login details of a PlayStation Network account that already carries the subscription, not a voucher to redeem on your own profile.
It is not refundable once the credentials have been sent, and you should not change the account region or attach a payment method, because either can lock it.
The catalogue is the whole point
Extra adds several hundred games you download and play for as long as you subscribe. Sony rotates the list, adding and removing titles, so it is a library you borrow rather than one you own.
Here is the arithmetic that decides it. A single PS5 game costs between fifty and eighty dollars. If you would buy two in a year, Extra already costs you less than that and gives you a few hundred instead. If you replay the same football game all year and buy nothing else, Essential is the honest answer and it is cheaper.
One thing worth planning for
Catalogue games are downloads, not streams. Several are well over a hundred gigabytes.
On a modest connection, treat the catalogue as something you queue overnight rather than browse on a whim. Pick two or three titles, start them before bed, play them for a month. People who try to sample fifteen games in a weekend end up frustrated with their line rather than with the subscription.
How you play on your own profile
Sign in to the purchased account on your console, then enable console sharing and offline play. Every profile on that console then gets the online multiplayer access and the catalogue, including yours, with your own trophies and saves intact.
The monthly games are the exception and must be claimed while signed in to the subscription account itself.
What about Premium
Premium adds classic titles, game trials and cloud streaming. The streaming needs a fast and stable connection and will not be usable on most lines here, so do not pay the difference for it. If the retro catalogue genuinely appeals to you, that is a different and better reason.
Paying without a credit card
Sony wants a card registered in the account’s country. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.
We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there, with the price in your local currency.
Common questions
Do I keep the catalogue games if I stop subscribing?
No. They stop launching when the subscription ends. Games you bought outright are unaffected.
Can my family play the catalogue too?
Yes, every profile on the console where console sharing is enabled.
Are the games streamed or downloaded?
Downloaded. Plan for large files.
Does the list change?
Yes, Sony adds and removes titles regularly.
Is it refundable?
No, not once the credentials have been sent.
How do I pay without a bank card?
Pick your country and mobile wallet at checkout, then approve the payment on your phone.
