One month, on your own account

This is the short version of the Mega Fan plan, meant for finding out whether the tier is worth it to you before you commit to a year.

The upgrade is applied to the Crunchyroll account you already use. Your watch history stays, your watchlist stays, your profile stays. You keep your password. Nothing is handed to you on a stranger’s account.

What the month gives you

• No ads, anywhere, including mid-episode
• Simulcasts, so new episodes arrive about an hour after they air in Japan
• Offline downloads on your phone or tablet, which is the feature most people here end up using daily
• Four simultaneous streams on your own devices
• The digital manga library, which the Fan tier does not include

What this listing will not tell you

Mega Fan is sold elsewhere with 4K streaming attached to it. Crunchyroll does not offer 4K on any tier. The ceiling is 1080p and that is true of the annual plan too.

You will also see “unlimited devices”. It is four simultaneous streams. Install the app on as many devices as you want, but four is how many can play at the same time.

The Crunchyroll Store discount that comes with Mega Fan, fifteen dollars off an order of one hundred dollars or more, is handed out once a quarter to active subscribers. On a one-month plan you may simply not be subscribed when the next one lands, so we would rather you did not buy the month for that reason.

When one month is the right call

Take the month if you have never paid for Crunchyroll and want to see what a season feels like without ads, or if you are chasing one simulcast that is airing right now.

Take the twelve-month plan once you know you will keep watching. It works out cheaper per month, and buying the short one first is the sensible order rather than a waste.

If the cost is the obstacle rather than the commitment, the shared account listing is the cheaper route and we describe plainly what it is and is not.

How an order runs

1. Pay with your mobile wallet. The price shows in your local currency.
2. Send us the sign-in email on your Crunchyroll account, on WhatsApp.
3. We apply the upgrade by hand. Allow up to 24 hours. Most orders are done well inside that, but 24 hours is the figure we are willing to put in writing.
4. Sign in as you always do, and Mega Fan is active.

We ask for your email address, not your password. If anything else is ever needed we explain why first, and you should set a temporary password before sending one to any seller.

What we commit to, and what we do not

Once the upgrade is on your account we do not promise a replacement or a refund if it stops before the month is out. No Crunchyroll subscription we have sold has been cut short so far, and if yours is, write to us and we will look at it. That is goodwill rather than a guarantee, and calling it a guarantee would be dishonest.

Paying without a credit card

Crunchyroll wants a card, and plenty of people across Africa do not have one. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet already on your phone.

We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there.
