Read this before you order

Forza Horizon 6 needs 167 GB free, and it has to be on an SSD. A mechanical hard drive is not enough, that is the publisher’s requirement rather than a recommendation. Check your drive and your data allowance before you buy.

The game also needs a connection for the first launch, to verify the licence and pull down its settings. After that, read the next section, because it decides whether this game suits you.

Playing without a steady connection

The single-player campaign works offline once the game has launched the first time. You race, explore Japan, earn cars and progress through the Horizon Festival with Drivatars filling the world in place of real players.

These parts need you online:

• The seasonal Festival Playlist, with its weekly challenges and rewards
• Co-op racing, online free roam and meetups
• Community liveries, shared tuning setups and Event Lab tracks

So if your connection comes and goes, you still get the whole campaign. You lose the weekly events, which is a real loss for some players and no loss at all for others. Decide which you are before you spend the money.

What you receive

Login details for a Steam account holding Forza Horizon 6 Standard Edition, emailed once payment clears. Usually five minutes, two hours at the worst. Install Steam, sign in, download.

Being clear about the format: this is an account that holds the game, not a key you add to your existing Steam library. You play from this account. Tell us before ordering if that does not suit you.

What the game is

The Horizon Festival moves to Japan. More than 550 cars at launch, a map that mixes city driving with mountain roads, and the usual Horizon structure of events you unlock by driving well rather than by grinding.

The Standard Edition is the complete base game. The paid car packs and the two expansions are not in it, which is what the edition table below is for.

How the account works

Change the password and the sign-in email the first time you log in. That is what puts the account under your sole control, and it takes two minutes.

Which edition

That last row is there because listings elsewhere still advertise it. The early access window ran before launch and is over, so nobody can sell it to you now.

The Deluxe Edition adds the Car Pass and the Welcome Pack. The Premium Edition adds the two expansions on top, which is the only difference that brings new places to drive rather than new cars.

Paying without a credit card

Steam wants a card or a payment method tied to a bank. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.
