What the Deluxe adds

The full base game plus two things:

• The Car Pass: 30 cars, released one per week rather than all at once
• The Welcome Pack: five specially tuned cars and three tickets to redeem Common or Rare clothing items

The map, the campaign and the Horizon Festival are identical to the Standard Edition. What you are buying is cars, not places to drive.

The early access row is there because listings elsewhere still advertise it. That window ran before launch and is over.

If you want the two expansions, which are the only addition that brings new places to drive, that is the Premium Edition.

Read this before you order

Forza Horizon 6 needs 167 GB free, and it has to be on an SSD. A mechanical hard drive is not enough, that is the publisher’s requirement rather than a recommendation.

The game needs a connection for the first launch, to verify the licence and pull down its settings.

Playing without a steady connection

The single-player campaign works offline once the game has launched the first time. You race, explore Japan and progress through the Horizon Festival with Drivatars filling the world.

These need you online: the seasonal Festival Playlist with its weekly challenges, co-op racing and online free roam, and community liveries, tuning setups and Event Lab tracks.

One thing specific to this edition, and we would rather say it now. On PC, downloadable content such as the Car Pass checks in occasionally to confirm you own it. The campaign tolerates long stretches offline; the extra cars you are paying for here do not quite as well. If you will almost never be online, the Standard Edition may serve you better than this one.

What you receive

Login details for a Steam account holding Forza Horizon 6 Deluxe Edition, emailed once payment clears. Usually five minutes, two hours at the worst. Install Steam, sign in, download.

Being clear about the format: this is an account that holds the game, not a key you add to your existing Steam library. You play from this account. Tell us before ordering if that does not suit you.

How the account works

Change the password and the sign-in email the first time you log in. That is what puts the account under your sole control, and it takes two minutes.

Steam Guard can then be moved to your own phone or email address.
