It goes on your own account

This is the part that matters most, and it is where most cheap offers fall down. They hand you a login on an account you have never seen, carrying someone else’s watch history.

Here the upgrade is applied to the Crunchyroll account you already use. Your watch history stays, your watchlist stays, your profile stays. You keep your password.

What Mega Fan actually gives you

• No ads, anywhere, including mid-episode
• Simulcasts, so new episodes arrive about an hour after they air in Japan
• Offline downloads on your phone or tablet, which matters more here than the feature list suggests
• Four simultaneous streams on your own devices
• The digital manga library, which the Fan tier does not include
• Fifteen dollars off a Crunchyroll Store order of one hundred dollars or more, once every three months

Two things other listings get wrong

You will see Mega Fan advertised with 4K streaming. Crunchyroll does not offer 4K on any tier. The ceiling is 1080p, and an earlier version of this page claimed otherwise, which we have corrected.

You will also see “unlimited devices”. It is four simultaneous streams. You can install the app on as many devices as you like, but four is the number that can play at once.

Four streams is for your own screens. Mega Fan is an individual plan. If you want to split the cost with other people, our shared account listing is built for that and is the honest way to do it.

How an order runs

1. Pay with your mobile wallet. The price shows in your local currency.
2. Send us the sign-in email on your Crunchyroll account, on WhatsApp.
3. We apply the upgrade by hand. Allow up to 24 hours. Most orders are done well inside that, but 24 hours is the figure we are willing to put in writing.
4. Sign in as you always do, and Mega Fan is active.

We ask for your email address, not your password. If anything else is ever needed we explain why first, and you should set a temporary password before sending one to any seller.

What we commit to, and what we do not

Once the upgrade is on your account, we do not promise a replacement or a refund if it stops before the twelve months are up. We would rather write that here than let you find out later.

What we can tell you is what has happened so far: no Crunchyroll subscription we have sold has been cut short. If yours ever is, message us on WhatsApp and we will look at it. Treat that as goodwill rather than as a guarantee, because that is what it is.

Twelve months or one month

If you are not sure the tier suits you, the one-month version exists to find out cheaply. The annual plan is better value once you know you will keep it, which is the only sensible order to do this in.

Paying without a credit card

Crunchyroll wants a card or a store account tied to one, and plenty of people across Africa have neither. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.

We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there.
