Microsoft Excel 2024 License

What you receive

A retail licence key for Microsoft Excel 2024, emailed once payment clears. Usually five minutes, two hours at the worst. You install Excel from Microsoft’s own installer and activate it with the key.

One computer, one payment, nothing to renew. This is the perpetual licence, not a Microsoft 365 subscription, so it keeps working whether or not you pay us again.

How long it keeps receiving updates

Microsoft supports Office 2024 until 9 October 2029. Until then you get security updates. After that Excel keeps running, it simply stops being patched.

What a perpetual licence does not give you

Excel 2024 is frozen at the feature set it shipped with. Microsoft 365 subscribers receive new functions during the year; you will not. If a formula you read about online was added after this release, it will not be in your copy.

For most work that is beside the point. Pivot tables, Power Query, the whole formula library and macros are all there and are not going anywhere. But if you follow Excel releases closely and want each new function as it lands, a subscription suits you better than this does, and we would rather say so now.

Excel alone, or the whole suite?

If Excel is all you need, this page is the cheapest way to get it. If you also want Word and PowerPoint, buying the three separately costs more than our Office LTSC 2024 Standard, which includes all three and more.

Before you install

Excel 2024 runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft asks for a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor, 4 GB of memory, and DirectX 9 or later. Their full list is on the official requirements page.

If you work with large files, more memory helps far more than a faster processor. 8 GB makes a noticeable difference on heavy workbooks even though 4 GB is the stated minimum.

Activating it

1. Sign in to a Microsoft account, or create one. It is free.
2. Enter the key we sent you to attach the licence to that account.
3. Download Excel from the account page and install it.
4. Open Excel once while connected, and activation completes on its own.

Paying without a credit card

Microsoft’s own store wants a Visa or Mastercard, and plenty of people across Africa do not have one. Here the payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.

We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there, with the price in your local currency.
