Buy Genuine Microsoft Office 2024: Is the One-Time Purchase Better Than 365?

The choice looks like subscription against one-time payment. It is really a choice about what happens in year three, and about one thing almost nobody explains: why two versions of Office 2024 on the same shop can differ in price by a factor of five.
The straight comparison
| What matters | Microsoft 365 | Office 2024 retail | Office LTSC 2024 |
|---|---|---|---|
| How you pay | Every month or year | Once | Once |
| New features over time | Yes | No | No |
| Security updates until | As long as you pay | 9 October 2029 | 9 October 2029 |
| Cloud storage included | Yes | No | No |
| Works without a connection | Yes, once activated | Yes | Yes |
| Sold on this site | No | Yes | Yes |
We do not sell Microsoft 365. If the subscription is what you want, it comes from Microsoft directly, and saying so costs us nothing but saves you a wasted order.
When the subscription is the right answer
If you want each new feature as Microsoft ships it, or you need the cloud storage that comes bundled, or you equip several people and want to add and remove them month by month, the subscription fits better than anything on this page.
A perpetual licence gives none of that. It is frozen at the feature set it shipped with and receives security fixes only. That is the honest trade, and it is the right trade for most people we sell to.
When paying once is the right answer
Past about two years of use, the one-time purchase costs less. That arithmetic is simple and it is why most of our customers choose it.
The less obvious reason is the connection. A perpetual licence activates once and then works, which matters when your internet comes and goes. A subscription checks in periodically, and a machine that is offline for long stretches eventually complains.
And it keeps working. Nobody can switch it off because a payment failed.
Retail or LTSC, the part nobody explains
Both are Office 2024 and both are one-time purchases, so the price gap on our own shop looks strange until you know why.
Retail Office 2024, sold as Home or Home & Business, is the consumer product you would buy in a shop. LTSC stands for Long-Term Servicing Channel, Microsoft’s edition for machines that are meant to stay exactly as they are: no interface changes, no new features arriving unannounced. It comes through volume licensing, which is where the price difference comes from.
For a laptop used for documents and spreadsheets, Office LTSC 2024 Standard does the same daily work for considerably less. LTSC Professional Plus adds Access for people who need a database.
What LTSC does not give you is the Microsoft 365 integration: no bundled cloud storage, and none of the features that arrive mid-year. If you were never going to use those, you are not losing anything. If you want them, you wanted the subscription anyway.
And if you only need one application rather than the suite, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are sold separately. Three of them bought individually costs more than LTSC Standard, so compare before you buy.
Why not an activator
The appeal is obvious when the official store will not take your card. The cost is that these tools are distributed by people with no accountability, they ask you to switch off your antivirus to run, and they cut you off from security updates on the machine where you keep your work.
A licence here is paid from your phone in under a minute, which removes the only real reason people reach for an activator.
Paying without a bank card
MTN MoMo and Orange Money in Cameroon, plus Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa and others across fourteen countries. Card and PayPal work everywhere else. Keys arrive by email, five minutes as a rule and two hours at the outside, and we help with activation on WhatsApp because that is where most questions come from.
We are a reseller. We claim no official partnership with Microsoft, and the keys we sell activate through Microsoft’s own channels, which is what matters.
Common questions
Do you sell Microsoft 365?
No. We sell the one-time Office licences, retail and LTSC. The subscription comes from Microsoft.
Why is LTSC so much cheaper than Office 2024 Home?
LTSC is Microsoft’s long-term servicing edition, distributed through volume licensing rather than retail. Same applications for daily work, no Microsoft 365 integration.
How long will my licence receive updates?
Until 9 October 2029 for Office 2024 and Office LTSC 2024. After that the software keeps running but stops being patched.
Will I get new features?
No. A perpetual licence keeps the features it shipped with. New features go to Microsoft 365 subscribers.
Is it cheaper to buy Word, Excel and PowerPoint separately?
Not if you need all three. The LTSC Standard suite costs less than the three individual licences and includes more.
Does it work offline?
Yes, once activated. That is one of the practical advantages over a subscription on an unreliable connection.
How do I pay without a bank card?
Pick your country and mobile wallet at checkout, then approve the payment on your phone.
