Why this card exists

Microsoft runs no Xbox store for most African countries, so players here register their Microsoft account elsewhere. Francophone players tend to pick France: the store, the game pages and Microsoft’s support all follow in French.

Then the store asks for a European card. This gift card removes that obstacle. Buy the code with mobile money, redeem it, and the balance is in your account.

Read this before ordering

Xbox gift cards are tied to one region. A French code redeems on a French Microsoft account and nowhere else.

To check, sign in at Microsoft’s account page and look at Country or Region, or open the account settings on your console. If it says France, this is your card. If it says United States, take the US card instead.

France or the United States?

The French store is in French and prices in euros, which suits most of our customers in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. The US store is larger and prices in dollars.

One practical difference: Game Pass pricing and the exact tiers on offer are not identical between regions, so if a subscription is your main reason for buying, compare both before you settle your account region. Changing it later is possible but tedious.

What you can buy with it

Games and add-ons from the Xbox store, and Game Pass subscriptions. The balance belongs to your Microsoft account rather than a console, so it also covers purchases on a PC signed in to the same account.

How to redeem it

1. On the console, press the Xbox button, open the Store, and choose Redeem.
2. Enter the twenty-five-character code from your email.

A browser works too: sign in to your Microsoft account and use the Redeem a code page.

Paying without a credit card

Microsoft wants a European card; we do not. The payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.

We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there, with the price in your local currency.
