Why this card exists
Sony runs no PlayStation Store for most countries in sub-Saharan Africa, so players here register their console on a foreign store. Germany comes up for two reasons: euro pricing, and sales that are often sharper than on the French store for the same titles.
Paying is the problem. The German store wants a European card or bank account. This gift card gets round it. You buy the code here with mobile money and redeem it on your German account.
Read this before ordering
PlayStation gift cards are locked to one region. A German code redeems on a German account and nowhere else. It will not work on a French or US account.
Check first: Settings, then Users and Accounts, then Account, then Country or Region. If it says Germany, this is your card. Otherwise take the French card or the US card.
One thing to know about the German store
Germany has its own content rating body, and a few games ship there in a modified version or arrive later than elsewhere. It affects a small number of titles, mostly older shooters, but it is worth a search before you commit a large balance to a German account if one specific game is why you are buying.
For everything else the German store behaves like any other European store, and the balance spends the same way.
How to redeem it
- On your PS5, open the PlayStation Store and choose Redeem Codes.
- Enter the twelve-character code from your email.
- The balance appears in your wallet immediately.
A browser works too, by signing in to your account on PlayStation’s website.
Paying without a credit card
Sony wants a European card; we do not. The payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.
