Why this card exists

Nintendo does not operate an eShop for most African countries. Players here set their Nintendo account to a country that has one, and the United States is the usual pick: the largest catalogue, prices in dollars, and every game in English.

Then comes the payment wall. The US eShop wants a US card or a PayPal account tied to a US address. This gift card goes around it. You buy the code here with mobile money, redeem it on your account, and the balance sits in your eShop wallet.

Read this before ordering

eShop cards are locked to one country. A US code redeems on a US account only. It will not work on a French or Japanese account, and nothing converts it afterwards.

To check: on the Switch, open System Settings, then User, select your profile, then Profile Settings, and look at Country or Region. If it says United States, this is your card. If it says France, take the French eShop card instead.

A warning about changing your account country

Nintendo does let you change the country on an account, but not while you still have money in the wallet. You have to spend the balance down to zero first. So decide on your region before you top up, not after.

This catches people out regularly: they load fifty dollars, then realise they wanted the European store, and now the money is stuck until they spend it.

What you can buy with it

Games for Switch and Switch 2, downloadable content, and Nintendo Switch Online memberships including the Expansion Pack. The balance stays in the wallet, so topping up before a sale is a sensible habit.

How to redeem it

  1. Open the Nintendo eShop on your console.
  2. Select your user, then Redeem Code from the left-hand menu.
  3. Enter the sixteen-character code from your email.

You can also redeem from a browser by signing in to your Nintendo account.

Paying without a credit card

Nintendo wants a US card; we do not. The payment goes through the mobile wallet you already use, straight from your phone.

We accept MTN MoMo, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Moov Money, Wave, M-Pesa, Telecel Cash, AT Money, Free Money, Vodacom, Tigo and Halotel, depending on where you are. Fourteen countries are covered, and PayPal and card payments work everywhere else. Pick your country at checkout and you only see the wallets that work there, with the price in your local currency.

Common questions

Will it work on my account?

Only if your Nintendo account country is the United States. Check in System Settings, User, Profile Settings, Country or Region.

Can I change my account to the US first?

Yes, as long as your current wallet balance is zero. Nintendo blocks the change otherwise.

Does it work on Switch 2?

Yes. The balance belongs to the account, not the console.

Can I pay for Nintendo Switch Online with it?

Yes, on the same US account.

What if the code does not work?

Message us on WhatsApp with a photo of the error. We replace it or refund you.

How do I pay without a bank card?

Pick your country and mobile wallet at checkout, then approve the payment on your phone.
